Double Negative Photography creates portraiture that is evocative, atmospheric, and expressive. Working exclusively on medium format film, our images favour depth, texture, and presence. Each portrait is approached as something felt as much as seen.

 

Our work is drawn to character, mood, and the subtle tension between intimacy and mystery. Some images are stark and cinematic, others soft and romantic, but all are rooted in individuality. We aim for portraits that feel timeless, distinctive, and emotionally resonant rather than disposable. A radical concept in the age of forgettable content.

 

There is a strong editorial sensibility to our practice, shaped by classic portraiture, fine art photography, and film. The slower process of medium format allows for intention, patience, and honesty, creating photographs with a sense of permanence and soul.
